August Blues

I was not going to comment on the poor state of our planet, but things just keep getting worse, so will say a few things now.
When the Vietnamese War was lost, and our soldiers got kicked out, we were supposed to think about a silver lining.
Our prayers did not help anyone then that I know of.
Today we see the same thing happening in Afghanistan and the armed forces getting kicked out by a rag tag native force.
Now we can pray ineffectually for all the women who believed in our “democracy and education” and are now threatened with living in the 7th Century.
Women always endure the pain of the conflict anywhere in the world, and no democracy is going to save them.
On one hand I feel that we should have let them go their own way, and just try to protect ourselves as best we can.
On the other hand it makes me angry that we did not learn a thing about Viet Nam and so are doomed to repeat our failures.
Are we the policemen of the world? No longer, if we ever were for a short time.
Can we trust our government to do the right thing for people we have asked for help in various invasions?
So far , only the Hmong people seemed to have benefited, besides the many refugees from Viet Nam.
I once told a family member that the universes’ purpose for the invasion of Viet Nam was to get more diversity in America by taking in the refugees.
Now, I think the universe does not care one way or another.
Men will always fight over land, resources, power, and women.
Not much to do about that!
