The news this morning treated us to pictures of black smoke along the border of Gaza and Israel.
Those burning tires sure do make a statement of hatred for the Jewish state, and pollute the community around the border.
The Israeli Army shows itself to be big bullies once again, but there is a bigger bully on the block and that is US.
By US, I mean the country of America and the people.
Did we really need to foment more unrest and hatred in the Middle East by moving our embassy to a city that has been the scene of strife and war for centuries? When I was there many years ago as a reporter, I saw gun toting volunteers at playgrounds, machine gun toting soldiers checking our hotel rooms for terrorists, and barb wire along the beach front.
At the time, I compered the desert around the Sea of Galilee to the area around San Diego. To me it was not worth the fuss everyone was making.
What portion of real estate is worth so many deaths?
It is like being in prison for the Palestinians, and with a little provocation they tend to turn out at borders with rocks and burning tires. The soldiers retaliate with bullets and tear gas and the game is on one more time.
To witness the idiocy of Kushner being in charge of the “peace” negotiations there is so ludicrous I wonder that newscasters can refrain from laughing on camera.
Our leaders are clearly demented and off the rails, with a continuous barrage of mean short sighted proclamations that bully everyone who is not in the rich man’s club and inner circle of the White House.
So far the bully has denied global warming, given a huge tax break to those who use the opportunity to invest in their own companies with buy backs instead of wage increases, tried to stifle science , given education over to a zany for profit woman, encouraged racism and misogyny, cut health services and insulted just about everyone.
It was sad to hear our national anthem being sung by the small group in front of the embassy in Jerusalem.
I see no positive progress for peace anytime soon, and this move has proven that short sighted moves like this only lead to more hatred and violence.
