In the news
Lately we have been subjected to more religion in the disguise of news.
On Sunday Morning we were treated to an article about a rock star who did not behave like one. Mr. Flowers said that he would never trash a hotel room because his mom cleaned hotel rooms. Also if he had and she heard about it he would have gotten a clipping upside the head!
Incidentally he also said the he made propos for “I am a Mormon”. What the heck does that mean?
Does it mean he was so goody goody because the Mormon religion is True?
Does not prove a bloody thing. Making t.v. ads to promote a religion does not prove there is a god, or gods.
Another little lapse of journalistic distance are the stories about folks who have near accidents, near death experiences, and claim that Jesus somehow saved them.
Where was Jesus when all the young men are being slaughtered by gangs and police alike?
A baby lost and buried alive in the woods is found in time and it is immediately dubbed a “miracle”.
Rubbish. It was a matter of chance and a search in the right area at the right time.
When the cave rescue was completed, I did not see any of the boys thanking Buddha, Allah or Jesus. They thanked the seal team, the doctors, the world and the science and technology that enabled them to come out alive. Their families were all praying like crazy to different gods, but no one on the media gave any credit to those invisible beings.
That is rather strange.
Or maybe not, as Muslims and Buddhists do not exactly have a good press in the Western media.
I guess if you have anything to thank except the Christian panoply of God, Jesus and Mother Mary, it does not make the evening news.
