Shrub Mama
4/19/18
While the George W. Bush administration was in power the pundits liked to call him The Shrub.
He did not arise out of a vacuum, and his mother has a lot to answer for.
The way she raised her boys says a lot. She was known as the Drill Sergeant.
They respected their dad, but were scared of the Drill Sergeant.
That does not bode well as an inspiration for child rearing.
When the un- necessary Iraqi invasion took place under George W.’s command, did Barbara grieve for all those children killed in the bombings and war that later turned the country into the Quagmire?
I think that no matter how many good deeds one does after a catastrophe, they cannot make up for a whole country’s suffering.
She was good at being the power behind the throne, and thought that her children should rule forever just because she thought that they were so good.
History proved her wrong.
She drove George into alcoholism, her son Jeb into mediocrity, and the country was left swinging in the wind.
Now people are lined up to view her casket and the whole country sheds tears over the Drill Sergeant, except for me.
We have to balance our thinking about those who are in power, and no matter what we think of the Bush so called dynasty, history will have a different judgement.
