My last essay included a paragraph from a local professional writer who had a few colorful words to say about the incoming president.
I would like to examine these words a bit more closely to see if there is an antidote to the anger and despair that the writer exhibits.
“Fear mongering con man.” What was so apt about this phrase?
We see from numerous tweets from the Donald that he thinks that fear will bring him success. Unlike Roosevelt who stated that the only thing we had to fear was “Fear itself”, we have much more to fear from this man.
The opposite of fear and bamboozling would be confidence and transparency.
Do we have confidence in the democratic system? Only time will tell. Right now, with all the antics displayed by the incoming team of advisors I fear that disarray will result in installing this team of ignorant, incompetent, impulsive, and vindictive power hungry men.
Mr. Trump has been called narcissistic, vitriolic, xenophobic and racist.
The opposite of those terms would be socially aware, refrained in public discourse and non-prejudiced.
Sociopath is a dangerous concept.
This term means that a person has no feeling for the affect that his words or deeds might have on society at large, but only on his own needs above all.
In being the kind of person that The Donald is, we can expect a groundswell of hatred for him and his policies which will not be anyway beneficial to our national image or international relations.
When we learn that there is already infighting among this fascist leader’s followers, we can only fear that chaos is to follow. When he spends time taking a thank you tour instead of learning how to do the next job by reading status reports and gathering in the best type of administrators, we have more to fear than fear itself.
I am not saying that riots and pillage will follow the inauguration, but there will be dire consequences for many if his plans about women’s rights, health care and immigration are put into place.
We cannot afford to lose work time and money fighting over basic rights already won in the political and health areas. The bottom line of America is the bottom line and Mr. Mussolini Trump is forgetting that.
