Ex the Sex!
Today’s headlines tell us that the cave men of the Utah Legislature are still mired in the Victorian era when it comes to sex education, if not the Jurassic Epoch.
They have voted to deny the children of the state a route to full information when it comes to making decisions about their sexual conduct.
Statistics show that kids are going to have sex, and if they do not know the dangers of such activity how are they ever going to protect themselves long enough to grow up without suffering from an STD, unwanted pregnancy, or the attendant traumas of abortion?
In the 1950’s we in the grade schools of California got a little movie by Disney on sexual reproduction. There was not any material on the risks of disease, but at least we knew enough to be cautious in our later activities.
The Legislature in Utah, in their infinite wisdom, thinks that parents should take care of the “Birds and the Bees” lecture at home preferably behind closed doors with the lights off.
Most parents would prefer that the school just show a film, dammit!
I only got the lecture on what a girl has to go through with monthly periods, and I was so shy that I took my Mom’s advice to not talk about it. She never could tell when I was having the “Curse” as other mothers may have. I reminded her that she had told me to keep it private!
In contrast to Utah, we have the free dissemination of condoms in our high schools, plenty of info on the internet I’m sure, and now there is a movement to introduce this same condom giveaway to the middle school children.
We have come to recognize that the little buggers are going to be screwing around earlier and earlier.
Studies have also shown that if a young woman can defer pregnancy through contraceptive measures and get a higher education, it contributes to the economy. Having protection through condom use protects from disease, and those wise parents who get their 12 year old vaccinated for the Papilloma virus prevent cancers later on.
Why should not parents want their children prepared for life? They are those who would have the religion determine the laws in America, and Utah is ripe for a Sharia type life.
I pity those children raised in this kind of education
