Boring, boring, boring
I saw the new Star Wars movie the other day at a morning showing. There were ten other customers in the theater so we can safely say that the excitement has worn off.
For myself, I am wondering if I am the only person in the Far Flung Universe who did not think it was very good?
Probably the trouble was that I went back and saw the original Star Wars movie and was struck at how much I disliked the comic book format. No one had much dialog, the action was always violent and nonstop, and Princess Leia did not look too pretty.
Now with the new movie which was supposed to invoke the spirit of the original in the fresh approach, I only found recycled plot and actors.
Who wants to see an elderly Hans Solo? With grey hair and wrinkles, it is hard not to understand that his marriage was also a fail, and having produced a juvenile delinquent who kills his dear old Dad at the first opportunity, they whole thing just left me sad.
The Princess did not wear well either, and even though Carrie Fisher lost some weight, she still came across as a grandmotherly figure. Makeup and clothing cannot hide the senior citizen look, of both of our so called heroes, so what is there to get excited about?
What irked me the most however, was the promise that this movie was going to be exceptional, only to find that is was all too predictable. I would not want to see this again, and compared to some of the wooden dialog encountered, even Jar Jar Banks seems credible.
So color me very Bored! Yawn.
