It is too bad that politicians can’t think. Or maybe it is that they don’t read about the culture in which they live.
Jeb Bush takes off on the working class now. He thinks we ought to work harder. When has he ever done a twelve hour shift in a hospital, or worked on a soft ware programmer for 18 hours straight?
I know people who have, and are continuously thinking on how they can make their lives better through their work and how they wish their children will have it easier.
As Paul Krugman states in his editorial, we as a nation work harder and longer than Europeans. We don’t take long vacations.
The poorer workers sometimes have more than one job because the major blue collar jobs have been sent over seas by greedy corporations, who tend to support the Republican ideology.
That ideology says that giving millionaires tax breaks and cutting benefits to poor workers, busting unions and denying unemployment benefits are good things. They may be good things for rich people who let their money do the working, but it does not help a waitress, nurse, car mechanic or assembly line worker.
I hope Jeb bush keeps on insulting people, then we can put him on the sidelines of history where his whole family belongs.
