We all would like to lose weight, but many of us lose only to gain it back. When I was 18 I noticed that while working in a dress shop after school, and taking my brfeak at the local ice cream counter, I started to pooch out in the belly. I had told myself that I would never get to look fat like my mom, but there it was creeping up on me, the same profile.
The only time I had a nice figure after that was with my third pregnancy when I could keep no food down at all.
Our American diet is determined by giant food companies that urge us to consume ever more food in the race to diabetes and heart attack.
The so called doctors on television do not help with their potions and pills and fad diets. There are dozens of new cook books for vegans, elders, diabetics, and heart health, but no one seems to know how to get the weight off and make it stay off.
Our families and friends help us die by chocolate, and gift us with inappropriate gifts at every occasion. We can’t have a party or holiday without booze, sugar, and fats. Then there are all the salty snacks to deal with.
When our friends and cousins start to look like baby elephants you would think we would be concerned about our own longevity, but only strict isolation and self discilpline will negate the effects of social eating.
If you are related to me you know who you are, and why I don’t call or see you as much anymore. You are the undisclosed pitfall to my health.
