Read Kevin Fong M.D.’s new book Extreme Medicine, for a real life case study of a woman who had her heart stopped for three hours and was brought back to life. This woman had no visions of heaven or visits with Jesus.
Then compare the exploitative story of Dr, Eben Alexander who was in a medically induced coma and came out to claim that he was in heaven and had actually died and gone there to a physical place.
Having an active imagination and being steeped in Christian fairy tales does wonders for the checkbook when you can cover your fantasies in the cloak of religion.
I notice Dr. Alexander did not meet Buddha or any Hidfu god in his travels.
I leave this rant with a quote from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.
Professor Dumbeldore had it right.
“Tell me one last thing” said Harry “Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?”
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
Thanks to J.K. Rowling in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.
Now we know.
